TEKKEN 7: THE KING OF THE IRON FIST TOURNAMENT 2016 NORTH AMERICA

 

I. CONCEPT

A. The ‘TEKKEN 7: The King of the Iron Fist Tournament 2016’ tour serves as a

controlled prerelease

environment to engage the widespread gaming community

through game play demos (referred to as ‘Free Play’) and competitions (referred

to as ‘Tournaments’).

B. There is no purchase necessary to participate in any of the ‘Free Play’ or ‘

Tournaments’ However,

each event will be subject to separate event/venue

fees (please check with each specific event).

C. ‘Tournaments’ will run on currently available arcade version hardware of

TEKKEN 7 . The tour will run TEKKEN 7: Fated Retribution when the game

becomes available for tournament use. ‘TEKKEN 7: The King of the Iron Fist

Tournament 2016’ finals will be contested on TEKKEN 7: Fated Retribution .

 

II. TOURNAMENT LOCATIONS

A. There are eighteen (18) locations across North America encompassing the

‘TEKKEN 7: The King of the Iron Fist Tournament 2016’ tour.

B. Each ‘Tournament’ will serve as a qualifier for an allencompassing

finals event.

III. TOURNAMENT GENERAL RULES & FLOW

A. ‘Tournament’ is hardcapped

at 128 or 256 total participants (128 at Wizard

World events and 256 at Regional Fighting Game events).

1. Pool play format feeding into Top 8

2. Check with each specific event for tournament registration

B. Participants must use a PlayStation 4 arcade stick controller, PlayStation 4

DUALSHOCK 4 (wired), or approved controller (check with event manager). If

participants do not have an approved controller, they may use an approved

controller provided by the ‘TEKKEN 7: The King of the Iron Fist Tournament

2016’ tour staff.

C. General Game Setting Rules

1. Random Stage

2. Double Elimination

3. Best 2 out of 3 match sets to determine winner; Grand Finals will be best

3 out of 5 match sets

4. Best 3 out of 5 rounds (default setting)

5. 60 seconds (default setting)

6. Winner must continue using the same character (unless it goes into brand

new set/bracket reset)

7. Losing player has the option to change characters

8. Controller malfunction needs to be reported to event manager and upon

discretion, will either be replayed to the same setting or disqualified (if

falsely claimed).

 

IV. NORTH AMERICA FINAL QUALIFICATION & RULES

A. ‘Tournament’ champions qualify for ‘TEKKEN 7: The King of the Iron Fist

Tournament 2016 North America Final’ event.

1. Qualification for ‘TEKKEN 7: The King of the Iron Fist Tournament 2016

North America Final’ event is open for residents of North and South

America. Qualified champions under the age of eighteen (18) will require

legal guardian.

2. Qualified champions that are residents of North/South America but are

outside of the United States must have a valid passport to participate in

the ‘TEKKEN 7: The King of the Iron Fist Tournament 2016 North

America Final’

3. In the event that ‘Tournament’ champion is not a resident of North/South

America, the qualification will pass to the next highest placing resident of

North/South America.

4. In the event that the next highest placing resident is the 5th or 7th place

tie, both players will compete in a tiebreaker

set. The winner will qualify

for ‘TEKKEN 7: The King of the Iron Fist Tournament 2016 North America

Final’

5. Eighteen (18) qualified champions will receive travel, lodging, and entry to

the ‘TEKKEN 7: The King of the Iron Fist Tournament 2016 North

America Final’

6. Qualified champions cannot compete in future ‘TEKKEN 7: The King of

the Iron Fist Tournament 2016’ events after qualifying unless they

relinquish their qualifying spot (see options below).

a) Qualified champions have the option to relinquish their qualifying

spot from a ‘Tournament’ to compete in another ‘Tournament’ on

the tour.

b) For each relinquished qualifying spot, a last chance qualifier spot

will be opened in the ‘Last Chance Qualifier’ tournament.

B. A ‘Last Chance Qualifier’ tournament will be held to fill remainder spots for a total

of twenty (20) qualified participants for the ‘TEKKEN 7: The King of the Iron Fist

Tournament 2016 North America Final’ event.

1. Top placing participants in the ‘Last Chance Qualifier’ tournament will be

used to fill remainder open spots. Tiebreaker

sets will be used in the

event an odd number of open spots are available.

2. Previous qualified champions that relinquished their spots to compete in

another ‘Tournament’ in the tour but were unable to secure a new spot

may enter the ‘Last Chance Qualifier’ tournament to requalify.

C. ‘TEKKEN 7: The King of the Iron Fist Tournament 2016 North America Final’ will

feature a ‘Round Robin Pool Play’ round followed by ‘Top 8’ bracket.

1. Twenty (20) qualified participants will be split via lottery into four (4)

groups of ‘Round Robin Pool Play.’ Top two (2) placers in each ‘Round

Robin Pool’ will qualify to advance to the ‘Top 8’ bracket.

2. Eight (8) qualified participants will be seeded via lottery into an 8man

bracket.

  1. All rounds of ‘Top 8’ bracket will be best of 3 out of 5 matches.

V. PRIZING
