Battle Style Adjustments

Carrying Downed Players

Updated the following Quirk Skills to allow for carrying downed players:

  • Katsuki Bakugo (Original) - Quirk Skill γ "Howitzer Impact"
  • Katsuki Bakugo (Cluster) - Quirk Skill γ "Howitzer Impact Cluster"
  • Ochaco Uraraka (Zero Satellites) - Quirk Skill β "Zero Satellites"
  • Eijiro Kirishima (Original) - Quirk Skill α "Chanbara Blade"
  • Shota Aizawa (Original) - Quirk Skill β "Powerhouse Kick Barrage"
  • All For One (Factor Fusion) - Quirk Skill γ "Factor Fusion "I'll Punch You""

Shield-Deflectable Quirk Skills

The following Quirk Skills have been adjusted so that they can now be deflected by shield-type Quirk Skills:

  • Mt. Lady - Quirk Skill β "Caldera Stomp" (Normal state) — While falling
  • All Might (Gatling) - Quirk Skill γ "Arizona Smash" — While falling
  • Izuku Midoriya (OFA) - Quirk Skill β (Derivative) "Detroit Smash Quintuple" — While falling; Quirk Skill γ (Derivative) "5th Gear Detroit Smash" — While tracking a locked-on target
  • Eijiro Kirishima (Original) - Quirk Skill γ "Red Burst" — While falling

Overhaul (Original)

  • Quirk Skill α "Underworld Crusher" - Increased range
  • Quirk Skill β "Piercing Dark Spear" - Increased falling speed
  • Quirk Skill γ "Coffin of Absolute Shackles" - Increased falling speed

Reason for adjustments: As the Battle Style lacked options for attacking airborne opponents, the range of Quirk Skill α was extended in order to make combat easier. The falling speed was also increased to allow for quicker use of Quirk Skills β and γ while airborne.

Twice (Original)

  • Quirk Skill β "Self-Duplicate" - Added an HP gauge display above clones
  • Quirk Skill γ "Foot Boost" - Increased gauge amount; Increased reload speed
  • Special Action "Mad Imitation" - Added an HP gauge display above clones

Reason for adjustments: An HP display for clones was added to make it easier for players to estimate how long each clone is able to fight after spawning. The gauge amount and reload speed for Quirk Skill γ were also increased, allowing for enhanced mobility and making it easier to maneuver during combat.

Katsuki Bakugo (Original)

  • Quirk Skill α "AP Shot" - Increased range
  • Quirk Skill β "Improvised Grenades" - Adjusted to allow for cancellation by using Quirk Skill β again while the skill is active
  • Quirk Skill γ "Howitzer Impact" - Decreased damage dealt during the spinning charge

Reason for adjustments: Due to the rise of characters who excel in aerial combat, the range of Quirk Skill α was extended. Quirk Skill β was also adjusted to make it easier to land consecutive hits. To maintain balance, the damage inflicted with Quirk Skill γ was reduced, as previous adjustments had made it easier to land a full string of hits.

Dabi (Crazy Torch)

  • Quirk Skill γ "Crazy Torch" - Adjusted so that the massive explosion can be triggered manually by holding down the button; Removed the initial self-damage taken upon activation (Continuous self-damage during activation remains unchanged.)

Reason for adjustments: In order to make the Battle Style more user-friendly, the initial self-damage taken when using Quirk Skill γ has been removed, as this had previously discouraged players from using it. The massive explosion can now also be manually triggered, where previously it only triggered when the gauge reached zero. Note that the continuous self-damage taken while the skill is active will still occur.

Hawks (Original)

  • Quirk Skill α "Wingbeat" - Decreased damage during normal use; Enhanced tracking during normal use; Reduced rapid-fire speed during normal use; Reduced gauge
  • Quirk Skill β "Wind Cross" - Increased slashing damage during free flight

Reason for adjustments: The tracking performance of Quirk Skill α during standard use has been enhanced, allowing players to more easily hit opponents who are dashing. To maintain balance, the damage output has also been reduced. Additionally, the slashing attack of Quirk Skill β offered little reward relative to the difficulty involved in landing a hit, so the damage value has been increased to improve balance.

Tenya Iida (Original)

  • Quirk Skill β "Recipro Burst" - Increased dash distance and attack range

Reason for adjustments: Both the travel distance and attack range of Quirk Skill β were increased, with the aim of improving damage output and survivability.

Hitoshi Shinso (Original)

  • Quirk Skill α "Binding Cloth: Crushing Strike" - Adjusted to deal increased damage when slamming an opponent down from a high position

Reason for adjustments: Adjustments were made in order to create a strategic advantage when landing Quirk Skill α on airborne opponents and to enhance the satisfaction of slamming them into the ground.

Mt. Lady

  • Quirk Skill α "Spike Knuckle" - Adjusted to allow for continuous attacks by holding down the button
  • Special Action "Gigantification" - Adjusted the camera view while Gigantified

Reason for adjustments: Quirk Skill α and the Special Action were adjusted to improve their usability.

Mr. Compress

  • Special Action "Magic Resurrection" - Increased HP recovery amount while carrying an ally; Adjusted to make it easier to transition from an aerial melee attack to a ground melee attack.

Reason for adjustments: The recovery rate was increased from 5 to 20 HP per second to better facilitate the character's Support role, while also improving the usability of melee attacks.

Himiko Toga

  • Special Action "Transform" - Adjusted to prevent the transformation from ending while using a Quirk skill

Reason for adjustments: We observed a tendency for Transformation to end prematurely while a Quirk Skill was still active, so adjustments were made to improve usability.

Denki Kaminari

  • Special Action "Electrification" - Increased reload speed

Reason for adjustments: Adjustments were made for balance, as the time required before the Quirk Skill could be used again was longer than that of other Battle Styles.

Denki Kaminari (Original)

  • Quirk Skill α "Electro-target" - Reduced damage; Adjusted to make it easier to knock back opponents

Reason for adjustments: A trend was observed where players would stun an opponent with Quirk Skill γ before following up with several hits of Quirk Skill α to instantly knock down opponents, particularly those with 250 HP or less. As a result, Quirk Skill α—a primary source of direct damage—has been adjusted.

Denki Kaminari (Lightning)

  • Quirk Skill γ "Lightning Way" - Adjusted to now grant Super Armor upon hitting an opponent

Reason for adjustments: By granting Super Armor upon a successful hit, it will now be easier to land successive attacks on multiple opponents.

Lady Nagant (Original)

  • Quirk Skill α "Hollow Point Shot" - Reduced damage; Reduced ammo count
  • Quirk Skill β "High Angle Fire" - Reduced damage
  • Quirk Skill γ "Kickback Shot" - Reduced ground damage; Reduced ammo count at Level 9 to 1; Reduced reload speed
  • Special Action "Scope Mode" - Reduced damage
  • Aerial Melee Attack - Reduced forward movement speed

Reason for adjustments: Despite multiple previous adjustments, both usage and win rates remained significantly higher compared to other Battle Styles, prompting a comprehensive rebalancing. A behavior was also identified where chaining aerial melee attacks allowed for faster movement than a standard dash, so movement speed was also adjusted to align with other Battle Styles.

Izuku Midoriya OFA (Original)

  • Reduced HP to 250
  • Quirk Skill α "Delaware Smash Airblast" - Reduced ammo count

Reason for adjustments: At the start of Season 17 an enhancement to the Super Armor effect was implemented, resulting in higher average damage and a higher win rate compared to other Battle Styles. Given this battle style's high mobility and proficiency at hiding via its Special Action, we reduced HP to 250 to improve balance. Adjustments were also made to the reload speed for Quirk Skill α—a primary source of direct damage—to reduce its frequency of use.

Kurogiri (Original)

  • Quirk Skill β "Warp Gate" - Adjusted so that opponents in an invincible state are unable to be warped

Reason for adjustments: We observed that a specific tactic that was becoming overly powerful, which involved repeatedly hitting an opponent with Quirk Skill β to knock them back and trigger invincibility before warping them outside the Safe Area to K.O. them via zone damage. This adjustment was implemented to reduce the frequency of such occurrences.

Armored All Might (Original)

  • Quirk Skill α (Derivative) "Flame Bullet Shot" - Reduced damage

Reason for adjustments: This Battle Style tended to have higher average damage and a higher win rate compared to other Technical roll Battle Styles. In response, some adjustments were made to Quirk Skill α—a primary source of direct damage—while maintaining the same gameplay feel.

Mirio Togata (Sheer Counter)

  • Quirk Skill α "Phantom Smash" - Reduced damage

Reason for adjustments: This Battle Style tended to have higher average damage and higher survivability across all rank tiers. In response, some adjustments were made to Quirk Skill α—which allows for quickly dealing damage in a short window—while maintaining the same gameplay feel.

Katsuki Bakugo (Cluster)

  • Quirk Skill α "A.P. Shot Cluster" - Increased ammo count; Increased damage during normal use
  • Quirk Skill β "Nitro Cluster" - Increased damage
  • Quirk Skill γ "Howitzer Impact Cluster" - Increased ammo count at Level 9

Reason for adjustments: While Quirk Skill α deals significant damage in Aim Mode, by comparison the damage output of other, easier-to-hit skills was low, making it difficult to knock down opponents. To create a more user-friendly Battle Style, overall damage output was increased and late-game mobility performance has been improved.

Bug Fixes

Hitoshi Shinso (Original)

Fixed an issue where attacks would sometimes fail to connect when canceling a finishing attack against a downed opponent.

Izuku Midoriya: OFA (Original)

Fixed an issue where canceling a ground melee attack by dodging would sometimes allow the ground melee attack to chain again.
