Development Newsletter Clan Match
Hello Pilots!
My name is Ozawa. I am the supervisor for the Clan features in Battle Operation 2.
It’s finally Fall, and it is getting cold both day and night. We should all take good care of ourselves and be careful not to catch a cold.
As winter is coming, I want to share some hot clan-related information to keep you warm!
Clan Match
The feature hinted at by Development Director Kobe was indeed Clan Matches and now they have arrived!
Even though there are players who already are using the Invite option to play together with clan members, there were cases where there weren’t enough people playing as groups, so matchmaking included single players as well.
Today, I would like to introduce Clan Matches, where matchmaking is done exclusively with clan members in clan vs clan matches.
Below you will find an explanation of Clan Matches and how they work.
What are Clan Matches?
They are limited-time events with clans competing for ranking. The ranking of the clan is based on the amount of CMP, or Clan Match Points, obtained by taking part in a Clan Match.
There are already Ranked Matches, where individual players compete with each other, but because Clan Matches are played with clan mates against teams of other clans, they are constructed differently from Ranked Matches.
The ranking only applies to the Clan Match Overall Ranking
Ranked Matches have a Group Ranking, which included groups of 20 players and an Overall Ranking with all pilots, but in Clan Matches the ranking will only be for the Clan Match Overall Ranking.

As with Ranked Matches, we considered combining the “Overall Ranking” and “Group Ranking”, but clans can be composed of up to 30 members, making the barrier for entry a minimum of 1/30th compared to Ranked Matches. In Group Ranking, the ranking is based on pilots’ ranking in groups, while the clan have members oy varying skill levels, making it difficult to fairly group those players. To address this, we devised the following system.
Obtaining CMP (Clan Match Points)
Clans can earn CMP by taking part in Clan Matches (these are not earned individually as in Ranked Matches) during the event period and the ranking is based on the top three totals. So regardless of how many sorties there were, whether 3 or 20, only the highest CMP earned from 3 sorties is added to the ranking.

There can be up to 30 members in the clan, playing in teams of 6, and there can be 5 teams from the same clan participating at the same time, but even then only the CMP earned from the whole clan’s top 3 sorties will be added to the ranking.
Because of this, the competitive advantage of having many clan members is somewhat reduced, allowing small clans to stay competitive with the bigger ones.
Nevertheless, it’s to your advantage to recruit as many clan members as possible to increase your chances at obtaining a lot of CMP from matches.
Formula for obtaining CMP
Let me introduce the formula of CMP that can be obtained by making a sortie.
This is also similar to the rank match specifications and I will explain in more details.
- CMP Scoring Method 1: Team Score
- 5% of the Team Score is awarded as CMP. This is earned by all teams in the battle
- Example) A team score of 12000 → +600 CMP
- This is the same system as Ranked Matches, as CMP will be added depending on the score the team has earned.
- *There will be an upper limit on the amount of CMP that can be obtained from the team score.
- 5% of the Team Score is awarded as CMP. This is earned by all teams in the battle
- CMP Scoring Method 2: Team Victory
- CMP is awarded according to the result of the battle
- Win: + 300CMP
- Loss: + 100CMP
- Draw: + 200CMP
- This is also the same as Ranked Matches, as CMP is added according to the team's win or loss.
- CMP is awarded according to the result of the battle
- CMP Scoring Method 3: Enemy Member Average Rating
- CMP is awarded according to the average rating of all enemy members
- Rating A- ~ A +: + 200CMP
- Rating B- ~ B +: + 100CMP
- Rating C- ~ C +: + 50CMP
- Rating D- ~ D +: + 0CMP
- CMP is awarded according to the average rating of all enemy members
This is new to Clan Matches as CMP is added according to the average rating of the enemy members in the battle.
As explained earlier, the matchmaking in Clan Matches is done based on individual ratings and not group ratings.
Based on the idea that a Highly rated team = a Highly competent team, we thought that it would be necessary to award additional CMP according to the results of battles against highly competent teams.
*Please keep in mind that the CMP awards described here are provisional and may change prior the event.
Clan Match Ranking Reward
To commemorate success, a Clan Match Flag will be awarded to clans that manage a high ranking spot in the Clan Match Overall Ranking.

These Clan Match Flags will accumulate over time to represent a clan’s skill.
The total number of Clan Match Flags earned can be checked from the Clan’s Room and Clan’s Terminal.
In addition, rewards will include mobile suits only obtainable through Clan Matches, awarded as a prize to all clan members of clans that have earned a Platinum Flag (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place).
(Please keep in mind that these mobile suits will be added to the Supply Drop at a later date)
Stay tuned for further information for the available mobile suits!
Short, 2 hours matches will be held regularly every week!
This is the biggest feature for Clan Matches. Unlike other events such as Rank Matches which are held over several days, Clan Matches are only open for 2 hours and will be held regularly every Saturday from 20:00 to 22:00 (JST).
*Depending on the month, there should be around 8-10 chances to obtain these Supply Drops.
It goes without saying that the clans who have won the mobile suits will have the chance to obtain them multiple times within the 2-month period. So, go once more into the breach, and strengthen your unit!
Let’s focus our efforts on these limited-time battles!
The rankings will be decided shortly after end of the event!
Our goal is to create an event with a sense of speed and urgency.
The event period is set to start every Saturday from 20:00 to 22:00 (JST). However, we are open to suggestions and will consider making adjustments along the way.
Additional Precautions
Please be aware of the following important information regarding Clan Matches.
Clans with a number of participants less than the minimum requirement set in the regulation will not be eligible for participation. with number of participants less than the minimum requirement set in the regulation will not be eligible for participation.
In Clan Matches, you must sortie as a clan member. In the event your clan does not meet the required minimum number of participants, and you will not be able to create a team and participate in the battle.
We understand that this will be difficult for clans only a few members, but as this necessary is for true Clan VS Clan matches, we ask for your understanding.
Since there is still time until the event launches, please recruit more members!
You will not be eligible for participation in Clan Match if you join a new clan during a clan match event period.
For one to be eligible to receive rewards from participating Clan Matches, it is necessary to join the clan before the event period starts. In addition, new members joining during the event period cannot be invited to join the sortie group.
We devised this method in order to prevent players from joining a clan during the end of the event period to receive rewards without actually participating. Please understand that rewards from Clan Matches are presented as an honor to members of the clan.
It is not possible for players with penalties to sortie regardless of their sortie ban time.
As Clan Matches are a serious competition where clans fight each other, and due to its nature as a limited-time event, we really wanted to emphasize the importance of a higher level of manners. Therefore, players with penalties are strictly prohibited in participating this event.
In Closing
Soon, Clan Matches will be available as a new challenge in Battle Operation 2. But before that, we are planning to conduct a beta test ahead of the release to help ensure the best experience on launch.
*Rewards during the beta period are subject to change.
Details and schedules for the beta test will be announced on our official website.
Thank you very much for your support!
