Dreams and Dragons
When the gods of order and chaos warred for control over the world, the black serpent, Kuat Ran, sided against Physera and the Dragons. The god of poisons and deception desired to expand his influence further than Physera’s rules allowed, seeking to claim more land for his Saurin children. The reptilian race spread across the southern jungles, subjugating their neighbors. The Saurin ziggurats ran red with blood to honor their dark god.
In the end, Physera was forced to send her loyal commander—Iriaphos, the Dragon of Light—to face Kuat Ran. The two tore the jungles asunder during their battle, raising mountains and reshaping the land forever. In the once-great temple we now know as the Dreamscale Ruins, Iriaphos struck her final, deadly blow.
But the god of deception is not so easily defeated. Kuat Ran faked his own death, allowing his physical form to be destroyed and withdrawing from the world to exist only as a shadow in the hearts of his people. For thousands of years, every victim slain by his Saurin warriors sustained him. Every still-beating heart sacrificed upon their altars kept Kuat Ran’s weakened form alive, waiting for a time when he could return once more to reclaim what he had lost.
Now, the Saurins look to take advantage of the Federation’s weakened state from endless infighting. They raid and pillage settlements all along the borders of the Timeless Jungle, expanding even into the Gnoll Wastes themselves. The Wasteland Patrols speak of strange magic at work in the jungles to the south, and of an oppressive shadow that poisons the lands beyond.
In their foul temples, the Saurin sacrifice fresh victims for an unknown purpose. The nature spirits of the southern jungles have grown violent and wrathful, attacking those who enter their domain. And in the depths of the Dreamscale Ruins, the earth rumbles as an ancient evil stirs.
Do you possess the bravery and skill to venture into the heart of the Dreamscale Ruins and stop what evil lurks in its halls? Or will you fall to the terrible evil at the heart of the Dreamscale Ruins, as meat for the Saurin’s dark sacrifices? The only way to find out is to venture forth into those dark halls, survive against all odds, and make them pray.
