Balance Changes

Balance Changes

There have been a lot of exciting changes to Duelyst -- new Generals, a revised Core Set, and a brand new expansion! As always, we actively monitor the state of the game while leaving it open to growth and discovery. When we pinpoint necessary changes based on player feedback, collected data, and personal testing, we bring those to you as soon as we can. In this patch we have changes to six different cards, and we hope you’re as excited for them as we are!

  • Maehv Skinsolder: Bloodbound Spell changed to: “Destroy a friendly minion to summon a 4/4 Husk nearby. Deal 2 damage to your General.”

Maehv’s Bloodbound Spell has a big effect, at the cost of also having a built-in drawback. We want to better reward this cost by giving her control over where she can summon her Husks. This will open up her options with better positioning, and by allowing her to take full advantage of minions whose Dying Wish ability need you to keep their space open!

  • Saurian Finality: Mana cost changed from 7 to 8. Attack bonus changed from +2 to +3.

Saurian Finality is a high impact spell, especially since it slows the game down and extends the number of turns where players have less mana available. We’re increasing the cost from 7 to 8, which means you’ll have more time (and more mana!) to properly play around Saurian Finality. We’re also increasing the Attack your General gains from +2 to +3, reinforcing this spell’s late game impact.

  • Homeostatic Rebuke: Mana cost changed from 3 to 4.

Homeostatic Rebuke symmetrically and efficiently clears the board, especially if Magmar haven’t yet invested onto the battlefield. We’re increasing the cost from 3 to 4 to tone down some of its higher-value cases, including in the early game and before the Magmar player has played a meaningful minion of their own.

  • Lavaslasher: Health changed from 9 to 7.

Lavaslasher is an extremely efficient minion that allows Magmar to remove enemy threats as well as build a significant board presence. The impact Lavaslasher has on the battlefield has proven to have some serious lasting power, so we’re reducing its Health from 9 to 7 to give players a better chance to fight back.

  • Ghost Seraphim: Ability changed to: “The first spell you play each turn costs 5 less.”

Ghost Seraphim enables powerful plays with high-cost spells, and while we really like a lot of the exciting, flashy things you can do, in some cases the immediate impact can be too much. Instead of getting any spell for free, your first spell each turn will cost 5 less. Ghost Seraphim will still make big plays, but you might have to wait a bit longer for some of the truly explosive turns.

  • DECEPTIB0T: Mana cost changed from 4 to 5. Attack changed from 4 to 5.

DECEPTIB0T has a powerful ability that allows for big minions to pop out of your deck for free, which enables a lot of interesting deckbuilding options. We’ve found that DECEPTIB0T has been taking over the game a little too early, so we’re increasing its mana cost from 4 to 5, while giving it a little extra oomph so it can keep clearing minions!

For roughly one week after these changes, Saurian Finality, Homeostatic Rebuke, Lavaslasher, Ghost Seraphim and DECEPTIB0T will be disenchantable for full spirit value.

Bug Fixes and other Updates
