Ironblood Alpha Wolf Spotlight!

The Bless Unleashed design team shares how they came up with the ferocious Ironblood Alpha Wolf mount!

The Ironblood Alpha Wolf mount absolutely crushed it! How did this epic mount come to be?

The Ironblood Alpha Wolf is a mount derived from a monster design called the Winter Wolf. Unlike other more realistic wolves found in Marco’s farm, our design for the Ironblood Alpha Wolf is closer to a monster because the Winter Wolf lives in the unrevealed, northern region of the Bless world. 

The northern region has harsher weather and terrain unfit for living creatures. The Winter Wolf is a predator that survived this grim environment. It is unexplained whether its ancestor is indeed a wolf, but only so called the Winter Wolf due to its wolf-like resemblance.

We attempted to embody predators who survived such a bewildering habitat with their abnormally developed bodies, muscles, and impressively protruding fangs.

Do the magenta ears, eyes, and legs mean anything?

Some magenta colors were used to convey a magical state of restraint. This comes from the idea that magic was performed in the process of capturing the mount and taming it for riding purposes.

Did you go through multiple iterations to get the mount to the point at which you felt it was complete?

We worked on 6 rough drafts for about a week for this monster design. Then we each selected a few that we liked (sorry to the booted off ones!). Afterwards, we formed designs on each of the selected few for a week. These sketches go through rounds of feedback and corrections. Ultimately, we settled on the Ironblood Alpha Wolf mount design for its unique color combinations and ferocity.
