Jungle Safari and Crimson Courser Spotlight!

There’s no time to be horsin’ around for our design team! The Bless Unleashed design team shares how they came up with the Jungle Safari costumes and Crimson Courser mount.

What made you take a walk on the wild side with this Jungle Safari set? How did this idea come to fruition?

Although this may sound cliche, we believe that exploration is an essential part of an MMORPG. In that sense, a costume with an exploration concept is a must. We thought it would be a perfect experience to explore the world of Bless Unleashed while wearing the Jungle Safari costume.

What other inspirations and references did you use to help you visualize the Jungle Safari Outfit and Crimson Courser?

The Crimson Courser came to mind when we heard the goal was to create a fast and attractive mount. The backstory of the Crimson Courser is that it was a rare and fine horse from Samgukji (the Three Kingdoms). Personally, I really enjoyed reading the various versions of Samgukji, so I was inspired to make a mount about it someday. There were many famous and competent generals, but few regarding well-known mounts. The lore varies from version to version, but the mount is commonly said to have a red mane, large body, and be incredibly fast. 

There is an anecdote of the mount that ran a thousand miles a day. However, when its owner passed away and another sought to tame it, the mount instead chose to starve to death in order to follow his master’s footsteps.

Such a loyal companion deserves the best look! How many different sketches did it take to reach your desired final design?

We knew from the start that we would be making the Crimson Courser, and knew exactly what we wanted. The mount started from a basic horse form, and as we added more characteristics from observing various horses, the Crimson Courser became more and more alive.

Thank you so much for sharing your design processes! One last thing, what is a typical day for you like?

Usually we would check the list of scheduled concepts to be created during a specific time period, and begin carrying out development discussions. Once discussions are complete, we would look for visual references, continuously sketching various designs and poses until we reach the final perfect design.
