Upcoming Guild Changes

February 6, 2020

Guilds are an important part of any MMO. A guild can be a family to learn and grow in game with, a group of players banding together for their collective benefit. We’ve all belonged to guilds before, and whether they were small intimate groups of like-minded players, or large mega guilds built for the purpose of server domination, they’ve all brought us large amounts of joy.

Unfortunately, as Round 8 Studio was developing Bless Unleashed, we realized that we would not have time to do more than provide the most basic of guild functionality at launch. This isn’t enough for us, or for our players. We know we have work to do for guilds, and have already started some early work on guild improvements. We hope to have the first major portion of guild feature improvements in July of this year, and we want to share some of our plans with you all now, because this is as important to us as it is to all of you.

Please remember that all of this work is still in early stages, and is thus subject to change, or even be cut from the schedule as we move forward. We also may not have all of this done in July. MMOs are always evolving, and our development plan is flexible enough to work within the needs of the game and community as they evolve.

One of the major things we want to do is implement a guild experience system. We view this as a foundation of guild systems, and know that having ways to earn guild experience to increase the power and prestige of your guild fosters not only healthy competition between guilds, but also fosters the sense of community that guilds depend on to survive. Playing Bless Unleashed with fellow guild members to defeat dungeons and field bosses will reward guild experience. We hope to add in guild quests which can be done as well to earn even more experience for your guild.

With guild experience will come guild progression. As your guild gains in levels and power, it should be upgraded with new and improved features. Rewards for leveling your guild may include an increased member cap, gold or starseed storage, and guild storage warehouse. It may eventually even reward your guild with its own estate.

We also hope to implement guild achievements, providing goals for individual guilds to shoot for in order to prove themselves to be the elite.

Finally, we’re looking into ways that guilds can compete against one another. We don’t have final plans right now, and are considering a number of options. Perhaps guilds should be able to raid one another’s estates for rewards. Maybe it’s special PvP maps and queues, or a simple leaderboard showing the guild which has earned the most experience or completed a certain objective faster than any other. We’re brainstorming right now, and if you have any thoughts on the matter, we’d love to hear them!
